The talk focused on Pakistan’s foreign policy and national security, emphasizing the importance of international relations. It highlighted that foreign policy encompasses all aspects of a country’s interactions with other nations, including political, economic, and security objectives. He specifically addressed Pakistan’s shift from a politico-economic to a security-focused foreign policy, driven by the Kashmir issue. The discussion included Pakistan’s bilateral challenges with India, such as water disputes, territorial conflicts, and nuclear development, as well as the broader regional and international dynamics affecting its security policy, including new emerging technologies and the militarization of the Indian Ocean.
